pieces of home
Home is actually kind of a beautiful place, despite being desolate lacking in young people. I woke up Wednesday morning to a winter wonderland. Everything was covered in crystals and the air smelled like muddy snow. Bad poetry aside, see for yourself:
Another beautiful aspect of home is this: the buckwheat pancake, or ploye. Men have died in pursuit of these things. Buckwheat flour was actually the one food staple the British left the Acadians when they evicted them from Canada and dropped them off in Northern Maine. That's a lie actually. Well, about the buckwheat, not about the deportation.
